What to expect

The intention of these classes is to provide a container of healing by supporting the body with the use of postures and props designed to facilitate the release of mind-body tension and bring the central nervous system to a state of balance and recovery.

Restorative yoga, also known as gentle yoga, is a type of yoga that aims to relax, revive, and refresh the body, mind, and spirit. It is a branch of hatha yoga, an ancient Indian practice that focuses on stretching and strengthening the physical body to prepare for sitting meditation.

During a restorative yoga session, you will experience slow and gentle movements, extended poses held with the help of props such as blankets and blocks, and an overall atmosphere of tranquility and ease. The poses can be held for a duration of two to twenty minutes. While restorative yoga may be similar to yin yoga, the two practices have differences. Yin yoga is intended to stretch deep layers of the body through long-held poses that apply a deliberate amount of stress while restorative focuses more on relaxing and supporting.

I am recovering from cancer related procedures and stumbled upon Yin style yoga and it is helping me so much. This studio is so peaceful and beautiful, and is home to some truly incredible teachers. JJ, Sania, and Jillian are some of my favorite instructors. Brianna, the studio manager is so warm and welcoming. The functional mobility class is like PT for healthy folks. I've never taken a class like it and it's doing me a world of good!
